CTurtleStudio
CTurtleStudio starts cTurtle Studio. Pass a project to open it straight
away.
Common commands
CTurtleStudio
CTurtleStudio ~/games/MyGame/MyGame.ctproject
CTurtleStudio games/my-game/game.json
The project can be a .ctproject or a
game.json. Without one, Studio opens its welcome
screen. Using Studio is covered in the Studio reference.
Installation
Run Studio from the folder it was installed in, and keep the files that came
with it there: Studio uses the ctgame, debugging and language-server tools
next to it for Build, Debug and code completion.
Settings files
Studio keeps your settings, key bindings, window layout, crash-recovery data and recent-projects list in your user folder:
| Kept in | Linux | Windows |
|---|---|---|
| Settings, commands, layout, recovery | ~/.config/ (or $XDG_CONFIG_HOME) as cturtle-studio.settings, .commands, .layout, .recovery | %LOCALAPPDATA%\ with the same names |
| Recent projects | ~/.cturtle-studio-recent-projects | %USERPROFILE%\.cturtle-studio-recent-projects |
To use a different file, for example to try a clean setup without losing your own, set the matching environment variable before starting Studio:
| Variable | File |
|---|---|
CTURTLE_STUDIO_SETTINGS | Settings |
CTURTLE_STUDIO_COMMANDS | Custom shortcuts and recent command-palette commands |
CTURTLE_STUDIO_LAYOUT | Window and panel layout |
CTURTLE_STUDIO_RECOVERY | Unsaved-work recovery data |
CTURTLE_STUDIO_RECENTS | Recent projects |
CTURTLE_STUDIO_SETTINGS=/tmp/studio.settings CTurtleStudio
See Studio settings files for what the files contain. The variables in Engine environment also apply to games you play from Studio.
Two more variables change Studio's behaviour:
| Variable | Effect |
|---|---|
CTURTLE_STUDIO_BT_LSP | Language server Studio starts for BT code, instead of the bundled one. |
CTURTLE_STUDIO_AUTOPLAY | Set to 1 to start Play as soon as the project named on the command line has opened. |
Errors
| Message | What to do |
|---|---|
cTurtle Studio startup failed: MESSAGE | Studio's install is incomplete or was moved without its files. Reinstall or run it from its original folder. |
| Usage message and exit | Pass at most one project path. |
